At my last downline meeting I demonstrated this quick tip for making candy corn for all of those Halloween projects you have planned. Just take three sizes of circles - punch the smallest in white, the middle size in yellow and the largest in orange. Glue those layers together as shown - one on top of the next.
Then using your snips, cut the circle into eighths. Look - voila - adorable candy corn and sooooo very simple. See what you can create using these and send me a photo or link. Watch for an upcoming project where I use them too!
See you soon ~Maureen

Card Challenge Winner!
So Julie was the winner of our card challenge at this month's downline meeting. Thanks for driving down to be with us Julie!! She made this amazing card using the Festive Flurry bundle from the current SU Holiday Catalog, and the Frosted Finishes Embellishment. It looks great here.....
But then look at this detail. The way she folded the snowflake layer underneath just made it pop and gave it all sorts of dimension. Love it!!
Thanks for an amazing card Julie!! ~Maureen

Downline Meeting Project
Each month my downline takes turns doing a project with the group at our monthly meetings. This month Virginia brought us this adorable stack of books card. It was the first time some of the demonstrators realized you could feed a strip of DSP from the top into one side of a punch to get the curve on the left. This is a great project to do to use up all those DSP scraps you all know you have laying around. (You know you have them :) The sponging around the edges of the layers really defines them as individual books in a stack.
Here is the lovely Virginia holding the card I made. You can see her sample above was better - my spacing was a little off, but I still liked how it turned out.
A special thanks to Virginia who stepped in to make this project happen for the group - you're the best!!! ~Maureen

Convention Swaps - a little late
So last weekend at my down line meeting we finally finished a couple convention swaps. I know - crazy huh!?! The first one is Heidi's card swap - they were not put together at convention - so finally got done.
The next is my convention gift/swap for my downline - a cute little photo album for all their convention photos. For this one, then night before convention I realized that half of the cover layouts I did, did not fit in the photo albums I had purchased - so I had to go out and buy new ones when I got back - and finally got them put together.
I also ordered copies of photos I had taken from convention and put them in their albums. I gave them to those who were present at the meeting, and the rest will get out in the mail soon. Better late than never, right?!
See you soon!!! ~Maureen

Special Day with a Special Boy!
Last weekend I had my Gramma Day with Prince. Lunch - his choice - In and Out!! Cheeseburger, fries and lemonade - yum!
That face looks happy to me :)
Then to the movies to see "Planes" - very cute movie. In the atrium they had an Iron Man and Super hero display, so we had to snap a picture. But Prince was glad I did it quickly as he said the Iron Man behind him was "creeping" him out.
Then we stopped for an ice cream (mint w/rolos) and relaxed in a beautiful shady spot. But it was 90 degrees and the ice cream was melting fast - so headed home as he wanted to save some for later.
It was a wonderful day - he is such a great kid - mature, interesting and always so polite. I just love spending time with him. Thanks for a great day Prince!
Finally I had to snap this picture of Paisley at the house making dinner when we got there. She had told me she was going to start cooking more with her Mommy to learn how - that's how my girls learned - so it was great seeing her cooking away. Until next time! ~Gramma

Paper Pumpkin - Part II
So here are the last few projects we made with Paper Pumpkin this month - we punched the flowers out of the area between the pennants and added little gems. I love the toothpick flag!
And then three others - a 2/4/6/8 box made out of one of the card bases; a treat holder with adorable flower tag (flowers punched out of a card base) and a matching decorated clothespin. How cute!!
Beginning with September's Paper Pumkpin I am offering a kit/instructions for purchase each month - new projects with each Paper Pumpkin kit. Watch for full details this weekend. ~Maureen

Paper Pumpkin - Part I
Each month Heidi and I have been doing a Paper Pumpkin class for our customers who subscribe under us - check it out at www.mypaperpumpkin.com and sign up for yourself. So today I am sharing the first two cards we made this month. The one below is exactly as you would make it with the instructions from the kits (which by the way came with enough materials to make four of these plus the ink spots - cool.)
But then we use the rest of the kit to come up with other creative ways of using the rest of the materials with just a few additions in a kit we provide - this card is transformed into birthday wishes - using the little pennants as birthday hats!
Tomorrow I'll be sharing the rest of the projects we made with the kit so stop back soon. ~Maureen

First "Days" of school...
Today I wanted to share the first day of school pics of my grandkids - some started last week and some this - but they are now all officially back in school.
No picture of Zamarah or Kyan this time - as they are not in school this Fall. But for the ones that are I pray for a wonderful day of growing and learning - both in academics and character. Love you all, Gramma

August Club Hostess gift...
Back to my stamp club - today I want to share the gift I made for this month's Hostess - each month I give a 4 pack of coordinating cards in one of our great Chevron bags - closed with a decorated clothespin. This month our Hostess was Lois, and she loves coffee almost as much as I do - so she was the perfect person for me to use the "Perfect Blend" set for -
Here are the four cards I gave her - the "coffee" splatters are made using the Gorgeous Grunge set, I then paper pieced the cozy around the cup and added a little flower and gem for some sparkle.
Here's a close up of one of the cards so you can see what I did. Cute huh?!?
I hope Lois like them! Thanks for being a great hostess! ~Maureen

Stamping from the Paint Party!
Yesterday I shared pics from Kamili's birthday party - and today I wanted to share some things we stamped or created with SU products - the first was this adorable banner for Kamili's cake!
Next - my gift package for Kamili - I put the card in a clear envelope on the front of the package to decorate it!
And here's the card close up - I took my inspiration from a card by Erica Cerwin on Pinterest - but of course now I can't find it :( But here is her blog so you can see all her wonderful work - www.pinkbuckaroodesigns.blogspot.com. I love how this card turned out - and Kamili loved it too!
See you soon - Maureen
