Stamp Till You Cramp

This event is right around the corner - October 9th - and it is going to be WONDERFUL!! If you live in the Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley area of California - we've got just a couple spots left to reach our capacity, so we're keeping the lower price through Saturday, October 2 to be sure we get there - that's a bonus for you :) For full details you can click on the Upcoming Event tab at the top of this blog. But to entice you to join us if you have not already signed up (and bring a friend for $5 off for each of you) - I thought I'd give a sneak peek of one of the many doorprize/raffle basket prizes we'll be giving away (not sure which category this one will end up in yet) - but I can guarantee someone will be going home with it - How cool is that - it's a great coffee mug decorated with our Halloween decor elements - a spooky spider on one side and on the other -
Oct 31 -Just so you don't forget when Halloween is - LOL. This mug is hand washable, and the decor element will stay on. My daughter has decor elements inside of her bathroom sink (yup that's right!) and they have stayed on and look great through many a scrubbin'. Plus the mug is filled with - CANDY! Email me now if you still would like to join us for this FUN day of stamping - everyone in attendance will walk away with full tummies, a special goodie bag, 4 large projects and 2 mini projects, a gift from their demonstrator, a doorprize and possibly raffle basket - PLUS wonderful memories of a fun and relaxing day with friends. I'd love to have you be part of it!

Sept SSS Gift - Just One More!

I know - I thought that was it - but guess what - we have one more SSS gift this month. Gifts can be dropped off at my home for Secret Sis's and a couple nights ago, when I looked out, this was out there. Sometimes I hold the gift to our next downline meeting, but that's a couple weeks - so I let Julie know someone had dropped something off for her. But before I put it back out, I got some pics- First the bag it came in - these leaves are soooo cool looking - looks like when you get them in the midwest in the fall, and press them - lovely. (This set is in my next order - can't wait!) Sorry the picture is dark, but it's late - the others are a bit better. This is what was inside - a jar of CANDY CORN - yum. It's decorated on every side and the top. Nice job.

Next is the adorable set of Owl cards that Pat got from her secret sis -
and they came in this lovely box - so cute!!

Plus this little owl box and two great fall mugs - wish I had better picture of the mugs - but this is all I got. I've been told she LOVES owls - so her SSS certainly knows her. The final gift I am sharing today is from my SSS - and it is amazing. Here is the beautiful box she made. It was filled with an assortment of wonderful candies to satisfy my sweet tooth.
And as if that was not enough - here is the set of matching cards she gave me. I love cards and send tons of them, so this was a perfect gift for me -Here is a close up of just one of the cards. Isn't it beautiful. Thank you so much Secret Sis!

Stampers Club

So last week we started our new Stampers Club for 2010-11 and we're changing it up a bit. This year at each meeting the attendees will make a 6x6" technique card; and then we'll do a project using that technique. Each person in the club purchased a SU binder and we'll be keeping the technique pages in the binders. Our first technique was Emboss Resist using Poppy and Concord. You can check out my techniques as we go on by going to the Techniques Page at the top of this blog. Since it was our first meeting I wanted us to decorate our binders, so that they would look pretty enough to set out on our stamping desks - so this is the vintagey look we came up with. The emboss resist technique was used on the tag - using Artichoke and to get a totally different look than on the card - using the same technique.
Here's a close up of some of the great products we got to use - our new SU Deck the Halls fabric, Always Artichoke seam binding, Victoria crochet trim; and our great new Vintage button brads - how cute is that. Let me know if you'd like to join a club and we'll get another going.

Next month the group is challenged to bring their best card using this technique and we'll vote for a product give-away!

CSL of the Month - Sandy

Sandy is my fourth CSL to profile - she signed up with SU and in my downline almost four years ago - and she is such an asset to SU and our group. Sandy's attitude is always positive, and she is always ready to help any way she can. She says she's an expert "copier" - but then she really is an expert, as everything she makes looks great! Have fun learning a little more about Sandy - So, just like with the previous profiles, I asked Sandy to answer a few questions, and then share 5 samples of her work that reflect her style - so here you go - meet Sandy:
1) Tell us a bit about your family.
I'm the youngest of three; older sister and older brother. I have two nieces and two nephews. My mom has raised us all by herself since my father's death when I was ten. I am a single mom with an amazing, thoughtful and beautiful 13 year old daughter.
2) What's your favorite stamp set in the current catalog or mini?
My favorite stamp set is Just Believe.
3) What's your favorite color family?
My favorite color family is Brights.
4) Why do you love stamping and Stampin' Up!
I love stamping and Stampin' Up! for two reasons; the friendships I have formed and the ability to teach others that we can all be creative.
5) Anything else you'd like us to know about you?
I call myself the Queen of plagarism; I can copy or case anything.
So here are the samples Sandy shared of her work -

Cards, Cards, Cards Stamp Class

So Tuesday night was my September Cards Stamp Camp and we focused on cards for the upcoming season - each person attending made 6 cards - 2 each of 3 designs, for $15.00. We had an absolutely great time! So here's the first card we made was using the new "Day of Gratitude" set from the Holiday mini catalog. We used the leaf and the flower stamps to create background patterns, then used the dauber on the medallion to sponge on color - they turned out sooooo warm and rich looking.
The second card we made was our Halloween card using the "Wicked Cool" set from the current catalog and our amazing new spider web embossing folder from the mini. These cards turned out soooo cute - can't wait to send them out to wish everyone a 'Spooky' Halloween. The final card we made was just a general fall type card. But we heat embossed the leaves from "Paisley Prints" with clear embossing powder on Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze (talk about a WOW factor) then cut them out and attached with some linen thread to torn layers of color. The verse is from Friends 24-7 and to finish it off -----
we spritzed the entire thing with gold Smooch at the end - it's hard to see in the picture, but on the card it gave a beautiful fall golden glow - you can see it a bit better in this close up.And I love the layer behind the verse - just cut small portions of the same punch (about 1/2" on each side) and then layered it on each end with tape and popped it all up on dimensionals. How cute is that! Hope you liked the cards, and if you live in my area in Southern Cal maybe you can join us soon. Now - go stamp :)

Sept Secret Sister Gifts - Part I

Here is an amazing Secret Sister gift that was given to Bobbie this month at our downline meeting. I love it so much that I'm hoping to figure it out and do a class on it. It's an actual working clock (similar to the one on the cover of the current SU catalog.) - Just look at all the detail on this -
And as if that was not enough she also got these beautiful cards -

And it all came in this lovely bag -

Check back to see more of the great SSS gifts from this month.
