Having some fun with Brushos....

What an amazing and fun new product Stampin' Up! is carrying in their Occasions catalog!  Brushos - watercolor crystals!  LOVE THEM!  If ever a product was addicting - this is it!  In February we used Brushos in my Technique Clubs - below is a little chart I made about how they looked in different scenarios.  But really, what I found matters most - is the amount of water added.  If you want more of the crystals to show like the first example - then less water; want a more blended look like the last example - then more water. Both watercolor paper and Shimmer cardstock work wonderful - but you can use Brushos on the Whisper White and Very Vanilla - it just gets a little warped from the water.
Below is the card we made using the emboss resist technique with the Brushos.  We first embossed the large butterfly with clear embossing on watercolor paper.  Then sprinkled on the Brushos were we wanted them - and spritzed away with water till we got the look we desired.  After it all dried we just layered it on our card - being sure to use tear tape around all the edges of the watercolor paper to help it lay flat.  We even sprinkled a few crystals on the envelope and spritzed it.
Below is a card I made for my grandson, Zavian's birthday - on this card - I laid down the Brushos in stripes where I wanted it - blue across the bottom, yellow in the middle and red at the top - trying to mimic fire from the Fire Breathing Dragon :)  After completely dry and layered on my card - I added my colored images (I used Blends on these) and popped them up on dimensionals.  I really love how it turned out.
Stop back soon to see more of the fun we had at Club with Brushos!!! ~Maureen

Personal post Monday - Gramma Day with Zavian

So a week ago I got to have a fun "Gramma" day with this little guy - my 5 year old grandson Zavian.  He is just such a sweetheart.  The plan was to drive up to the Camarillo airport, have lunch and watch the airplanes ..... but when we got there the restaurant was closed for kitchen renovation.  I felt so bad, but when I told him he said that's okay - let's just go to McDonalds.  How great was that!
The best part was that they were giving out Skylander characters in the Happy Meals - and Zavian's favorite thing in the world right now is Skylander - so at McDonald's he got "Wally" (above).
Our next stop was Target for a look at what they had in the Skylanders Dept. - and we picked up this trio of characters on sale - needless to say he was a HAPPY boy!  After that I asked what he wanted to do, and he just wanted to go to Toys R Us and look at "the stuff" so that's what we did - 40 minutes of checking out toys and seeing what they would do and dreaming of what he's gonna ask for, for Christmas, lol.
Our last stop was for ICE CREAM - and he got his trademark Cotton Candy flavor with sprinkles - not appealing at all to me - but he loves it.
Back home his Mom snapped this picture of us together as I forgot to get one when we were out and about.  It was a change in plans, but none the less a great day full of fun memories.  Thanks Zavian for being such a great kid - and making it a great day!!!  Can't wait till next time. Love you buddy!  ~Gramma

Zavian Turns 5

So last week we celebrated this sweet baby's "5th Birthday"  -  I can hardly believe it.  My grandson Zavian is 5 years old.
I made him this cute wild about you and was so proud of myself thinking I'd gotten him a alligator gift card to go with it, until he informed me I was wrong - it is a dinosaur gift card.  Oh well - I tried!!
Here he is with his cake (and baby brother) - what a sweetheart and cutie!  We love you so much - thanks for letting us celebrate with you.

Personal Post Monday - Gramma Day with Zavian!

So last weekend I had my special day with this handsome young man - my grandson Zavian.  As usual he got to pick the day's agenda - so first off we had to go to lunch at Red Robin.  He ordered a corn dog, fries, and this vanilla shake with SPRINKLES!  Mmmmmmm~
Here's Gramma with her precious little guy -
Then we were off to Target to peruse the Skylander's display.  Apparently this is the HOT toy for little boys this Christmas season.  He was so excited having my undivided attention for 20 minutes straight while he told me all about the amazing characters and what they do.  Look at that smile!!
Then it was home to pick up Papa and draw in his "Gramma Day" journal  - then off to the park for some fun play time and to run off all that extra energy.  What a sweet little guy and a wonderful day for Gramma.
I don't think I ever posted what Makai painted on our Gramma day - so here it is - a cute little two piece Ice cream cone - she painted the entire thing herself - and it turned out great!
I am so blessed to be able to have these "special" days - and I don't take them lightly.  Tomorrow - back to stamping!! See you soon! ~Gramma Maureen

Mario Bros Birthday Cards

The other day I shared pictures of Kyan and Zavian's Birthday party.  Today I wanted to share the Birthday cards I made for them.  Just printed a couple pictures and colored them (wish I would have had my blendabilities :))  But I think they still turned out cute.
I punched a bunch of bright colored circles and adhered them to black cardstock for the base - really made the colors pop.  The used dimensionals to add the Mario guys to the card fronts.  See you soon. ~Maureen

My Little T-baller

So just had to share this picture of my adorable grandson, Zavian.  His first day of T-ball was the same day as his sister, Makai's big baking birthday party.  So immediately after getting home from his game, we moved into party mode - and he got a little over looked.  But I love a man in uniform, and was able to take this quick picture - he is so cute and rockin' that uniform..
Gonna be fun watching him play this season!! Love you, Gramma

3/22/14 Update - got to watch him play this afternoon - he is the youngest on his team -but did great.  He hits the ball - but then forgets to run - so it's cute seeing the smile on his face when his coach says RUN and he gets it.

Gramma Day with Zavian

Recently I had a fun Gramma day with my sweet little Zavian.  We did some fun shopping and he picked out a new SHARK lego kit.  Just look at that sweet face.  We were lucky that Papa had a day off work -so they got to work on the legos together.

Then the three of us went for a yummy lunch at Red Robin.  It was so much fun just spending time with two of my specialest guys.

Wish I could just bottle up all these hugs for when I'm having a down day - nothin' better!  Thanks for a wonderful day baby boy!  ~Gramma

Fun with the King Kids

A couple weekends ago we got to spend some time with three of our King grandkids.  Started out with Gramma and Zavian heading out for an ice cream treat as a reward for his hard work on potty training.  He absolutely had to have the BLUE ice cream - hmmmmm-
But guess this smile showed he LOVED it!
Then the three older kiddos spent the night with Gramma and Papa - here they are in heavy concentration building a castle -
And all smiles with their finished product.
Had a wonderful time -as always - Love you kiddos!!!  ~Gramma
