Card Challenge Winner!

So Julie was the winner of our card challenge at this month's downline meeting.  Thanks for driving down to be with us Julie!!  She made this amazing card using the Festive Flurry bundle from the current SU Holiday Catalog, and the Frosted Finishes Embellishment. It looks great here.....

But then look at this detail.  The way she folded the snowflake layer underneath just made it pop and gave it all sorts of dimension.  Love it!!

Downline Meeting Challenge and SSS

Downline Challenge card -

At our last meeting our downline challenge was to make your best project using any of our in-colors. We only had one entry, but it was great! Heidi created this adorable birthday card - LOVE IT! So she was our winner and got to pick out of the prize box. Here's the inside - just as cute as the outside. Who wouldn't love to get this :)

April Club Challenge Cards -

Each month our club does a challenge using last month's technique. Last month we did the Baby Wipe technique - http://crazystampinglady.blogspot.com/2011/03/club-baby-wipe-technique.html So we had three entries this month - this first very Eastery card by Karen used not only our baby wipe technique but also the embedded embossing technique from the month before - she also used the technique several ways - on the background - the stamped words - and on the flower. This card just shouts "Spring is here" to me - The second card was mine - I used Night of Navy and Old Olive for this richly colored Flowers Awash card - the flowers were stamped using the baby wipe technique and there is also a background layer that I loved - but most of it ended up getting covered up :( I still like the way it turned out though.

The third entry was from Lyn and was our winner. She used the baby wipe also by swiping the background and then also on the layer behind the words and the lovely flowers (which have our glitter brads in the center). If you look closely you can see she also embossed the flowers before punching them out. The picture is a little dark as I was having trouble with my flash putting a glare on the card - sorry Lyn. March Downline Challenge

Today was our Quarterly "Calling ALL Crazy Stamping Ladies" downline meeting - and what a fun time it was. Each month we do a card challenge - and this month's was to make your best card using Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist and River Rock - they could also use any or all of Whisper White, Basic Black, and Very Vanilla. There were not a lot of entries - but the ones that did enter were AMAZING - it was very difficult to pick just one winner. But we did it. This first card is Annette's entry - it was so lovely and she did just a wonderful job on using the embossing folder frame and reducing the size for the inside layer - really nice work. The second entry was from Julie and really ROCKS - look at the great way she used all the colors - lots of dimension and movement in this card - what TEEN wouldn't love to get this. Third was this beautiful and soft SPRINGTIME version of the challenge by Kathy - I love the way she used beveled frame - and if you look closely you'll see the beautiful clouds that were sponged on the background layer.

Stampers Club Challenge

Each month our club does a challenge where we make our best card using the past month's technique. This month we made our cards using the embedded embossing technique. I try do do the challenge even though I can't win - just to challenge myself - and here is my card. I love the new Fun Flowers Bigz die - and look how great it looks with this technique - I am soooo happy about how it turned out. And here is our winning card from Karen - I'm so glad she participated in the challenge. Her card is so bright and ready for Spring and she used the buttons currently available through SAB FREE - how cool is that. Congratulations Karen!

Stampers Club

My Stampers Club met this past Friday evening - and what a great group. It was at Diane's home and she invited some of her friends to join us for the evening. We had a full house. This month we did the Imbedded Embossing technique that is everywhere right now - it is so neat. Here's the card we did for our Technique binders with a sample and instructions:You can check out all the techniques we've done by clicking on Techniques from our Stampers Club right under my banner at the top of this blog. Next is the actual greeting card we made. Diane had requested a Valentine theme, and I love this Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder - it has a romantic feel to me - so was perfect with the theme. Doesn't it look like the hearts were part of that piece of cardstock all along?

Here is a close up so you can see just how neat the embossing plate presses the heart right into the background - love that!

As many of you know I also have a challenge each month for the club members to make their best card using the previous month's technique - last month we did the reflection technique (see here -
http://crazystampinglady.blogspot.com/2010/11/november-stamp-club-technique.html ). I was the only one to bring a card for the challenge this month - but I wanted to share it. I used the sweet little girl from Greeting Card Kids and had her looking into a mirror on the wall - hope that's how it came across. Let me know what you think.

CSL's Card Challenge

Here are the entries for this month's card challenge at our monthly downline meeting. The challenge was to make your best Valentine using Black and Vanilla or Black and White and one other color. We had three terrific entries - this one is mine with a fabric flower I'll talk about more below.

This gem is Julie's - great card and great use of the polka dot emossing folder on the heart and circles - nice detail. And this was our winning entry from Heidi. She and Julie were definately on the same wave length with some of the details - big heart, button/brad, pin and little tag. It is a great vintage card that I understand was made in the wee hours of the morning :) Congratulations Heidi!She got to pick her prize out of our CSL prize basket of SU goodies - I think she won the linen thread.More about the flower - I demonstrated at our meeting how to make this beautiful flower out of our 5/8" satin ribbon. I followed the tutorial found on Kelly Acheson's blog here -http://astampabove.typepad.com/my-blog/2010/12/ribbon-flower-tutorial.html

Kelly used her heat tool and said to be patient - but I guess I am not, as I gave up. So instead I used a candle flame and loved the affect it gave - the edges look as if they've been painted with dew, and they got a little black, which I liked on the rose. I also used about 18" of ribbon. Next time I'll try the heat gun again and see if I can get it to work. If you try and have any tips, please let me know. Here's a close up of the detail.

Nov Club Card Challenge Cards

Last month we did the Shaving Cream technique at our club, so this month the ladies were challenged to make their best card using that technique. Here is our winning card from Lyn - she actually ran the shaving cream sheets through the big shot embossing a design on them that looked great! Congratulations Lyn!Here's Karen's entry - look at those amazing swirls of color. Karen used the faux linen technique on her background layer.

Here is Jackie's entry - unfortunately my picture doesn't show the depth of her swirls. Jackie only had one re-inker but built of up the colors on the shaving cream by using and reinking - it actually looks like she used several greens. Finally - here is my entry. it's for a friend who just lost a beloved pet. I wish we had had this set sooner, as I have so many friends and family I would have loved to send a card like this to. It's so hard to know what to say during the heartache following the loss of a pet. I really love the way the colors swirled together on this layer. Thanks ladies for playing along - can't wait to see what you come up with next time!
