SF May 2019 Father's Day Blog Hop!

Lasts month I shared about missing my Mom on Mother's day - well the same goes for Father's day.  My dad passed away 42 years ago, and I still think of him so often and with loving memories.  I was so blessed with two wonderful parents.  But I still have some awesome fathers in my life - my hubby and my two sons-in-law, Robert and Aaron.  Blessed yet again!  My project today was mostly inspired by and for my husband, Paul.  He worked for Harley-Davidson for many years before our retirement - and has always had a love of fine motorcycles!
First the card - this was made with our retiring set - One Wild Ride.  I really hate to see this set go, and am sure I will hold on to my personal set for quite a while, as it is an awesome set.  I just repeated the motorcycle image for the background, stamping on full one toward the center as a bit of a focal point.  To direct your eyes in toward the motorcycle, I did add some texture to the edge with a stamp from the set - using gray and giving it a bit of a border.
You can see how I finished the envelope above and the inside of the card below.  I also used the "Happy Father's Day" image from our current sent - Geared Up Garage that will be returning in the 2019 Annual catalog.  Also a great, masculine set, and the ribbon from that coordinating suite of products - which unfortunately is retiring.
As my 3D project I choose to make a coordinating little treat box using the 2-4-6-8 box pattern here - (sorry a bit blurry if you need it better - let me know and I can email to you) -
This box will be filled with pistachios, as those are Paul's favorite.
Everything is adhered to the front of the box with snail - except, I popped up the motorcycle on dimensionals.  I am now thinking what a cute favor this would have made for his retirement party - but alas - I did not think of that then, lol!
I hope you enjoyed these projects and got some inspiration for creating some special items for the fathers in your life.  I would love it, if you would leave me a comment below.  Don't forget to click through on each name below to see even more wonderful Posts with a Father's Day theme.  See you soon with more ideas! ~Maureen

Family Fun - and a cute Gift!!

The last 8 days have been crazy busy!  My daughter and her for kiddos were here visiting - which meant we had both daughters and all seven kids in the house!   Talk about chaos - but fun, wonderful, crazy chaos!  So finally there is a little calm (although we have a friend arriving tomorrow evening with her three young kids) - so I thought I'd better post - quick!  We celebrated Father's day when they were all here - took Papa out for a nice breakfast with the crew.  Here's the card Jenee's kids made for him using last month's Paper Pumpkin kit -
Here's the card that Heidi made for him -

And she added this bottle of peanuts - isn't that the cutest thing -

Father's day was nice- and the girls included gift cards for Home Depot - so he can go and get the BBQ grill he wants for the back yard.  Can't wait to get that and start grilling out!

Hope you enjoyed these projects!  See you soon! ~Maureen

Personal Post Monday - Father's Day!

Finally - we have a computer up and running, internet service, and a few minutes to actually blog.  This moving stuff is NOT for sissies - lol!  But we are settling in and though there are boxes everywhere still - we are making progress.  Shortly before our move we had a chance to get together with our entire crew at Heidi's to celebrate Father's Day!  So here is the King Crew!
The Jones Crew!
Papa and all his grandkids -
And with his girls - (note we had a couple of photo-bombers for this last picture) -
It was a wonderful day with family - we are so blessed and miss this group - but hopefully we will have many, many times of celebration and visiting together even though we moved.  Stop back in the next day or two for info on our last downline meeting.   ~Maureen

Father's Day Goodies

Just had to share the Father's Day goodies hubby got from our daughter Heidi. This bottle of wine and card.
The card was part of the May Paper Pumpkin kit.  This was a really nice set, and if you didn't want or need Father's Day these would be great masculine birthday cards.  Just look at all the great details on here.
Then she got him a nice bottle of red wine -but the kicker was it was dressed up with a tie - and yes - a tie tac.  It was such a cute presentation. How fun!!
Hope you enjoyed - stop back soon!  ~Maureen

Tie cards for Father's day

Just wanted to share the two very simple cards I made for Father's Day for my husband and my son-in-law.  I saw a similar card on Pinterest and love the masculine simplicity of it.  You just take a white card base, and cut down a slit about 1/2-3/4" long, straight down from the top.  Then fold the two sides down at an angle to make the collar. I made it a little asymmetrical for character - it's how the one was that I saw and I liked that look.

Then I punched a 1" circle out of scrapbook paper for the knot, and made a template for the tie and traced and cut it out from a 2" x 4 1/2" piece of scrapbook paper.  The tie is just taped down and the knot is popped up on a dimensional. The one I saw had a paperclip for a tie clasp, or I could have added a brad for a tie pin, but I liked the simple nature of the card just the way it was.
To me this was the perfect Father's Day card for two special guys in my life.  See you soon!  ~Maureen

Father's Day Gift

Last week Heidi had us over for dinner to celebrate our 36th anniversary and Father's Day.  Here is the cute shadow box frame she gave Paul.  It is right up his alley as Paul is "Mr Fix It"  I'm hoping to get a nice picture of Jenee and Heidi to put in it for him.  Will share when I get it :)

And here is the matching Father's day card - love it!!
You can see more of Heidi's great work at www.stampinking.blogspot.com
See you all soon!  ~Maureen

To the Men in my Life....

I just want to take a minute to say "THANK YOU" to some amazing Dad's - First my sweetheart, Paul. What a wonderful Dad and Papa he is to our daughters and their families. He is there to help them when ever they need help, or love, or just someone to talk to. We are so lucky to have him as a part of our lives - Next are my sons-in-law Aaron and Robert and here are their pictures respectively. Aaron is married to Heidi and Daddy to Kamili, Makai and Zavian - And Robert to Jenee and Daddy to Paisley, Prince and Zamarah -
And I just want to take a moment to let them know how much we love them and appreciate what wonderful Father's they are to our precious Grand-kids. We are certainly blessed!!

Finally I want to honor my father, Basil - he passed away when I was 20 years old, (this picture is just a few months before his death), and I still miss him. He was a wonderful father to his nine children - not perfect - but loving and caring and I have great memories of my times with him. Miss you Daddy!! I'm blessed for having had you in my life.

Father's Day Part II

As I mentioned, we spent Father's Day evening at Heidi's and Aaron's enjoying a backyard BBQ. Okay - so he's not anti-social - really :) Here is Aaron all by his lonesome at the end of the table. He was actually trying to stay warm, as it really cooled off as evening came. You can't see it, but there was a portable fire pit on the ground near his feet - keeping him warm. Hope he had a Happy Father's Day!And then - here are some pictures of Paul with his girls - Heidi and Jenee holding Zavian and Zamarah respectively. and the other four grand kids - Paisley, Makai, Prince and Kamili - I'm showing two pictures we took and you can see it is hard to corral 4 kids under 7 years old - so this was the best I could do. But Papa looks happy - we are sooooo blessed!
