One Sheet Wonder - edited at bottom of post

Because of my upcoming out of state move - last week was my last club :( here is Southern Cal. after 8 years of club :(  Very bitter sweet - these ladies are great -and hopefully we'll get to stamp together again.  So I wanted them to do something a little special and thought a set of cards using the OSW technique would be just the ticket.  This is such a fun technique. Soon I'll share the diagram for cutting the pieces - but now just want to share the four cards we made -

 

 

 

And then to complete the project we put the cards and envelopes in a clear plastic box and finished it off with a matching belly band.  The ladies used a few different designs of the SAB Best Day Ever DSP.  So you can see the cards above used one design and the box below used a different design.  But they all looked great.  You can also tell I took the picture below at night in bad lighting - the colors are a bit washed out - sorry!  But hopefully you get the idea.

The 1" strip of DSP was not long enough to go completely around the box this way, so it is adhered to each side of the square layers on the back.  If you're doing this you want to not make it too tight that you cannot slide it off, or too loose that it just falls down - so be careful with that part.  I love making coordinated sets with OSW - as they look great when they are finished - perfect to use or give as a gift.  See you soon!!! ~Maureen

Bokeh Technique in a beautiful card

As promised here is the card we made at this month's Technique Club - I have two different samples for your here - the one on the left was made and allowed to air dry and the one on the right was dried with the heat tool to speed up the process.  I like the way both turned out, but they definitely give a little different look.

At this angle you can really see the technique and the first one is sharp - but the second one is a bit more blurred like the actual bokeh photography technique looks. Then here below is the one air dried - which took a couple days -the circles of white are still pretty crisp and clear.

and hers is the one dried with the heat tool - which took a few minutes.  The circles lost their definition a little - they actually faded a lot, and I had to go back over them again with more white ink. 

Of the two I think the first version is nicer and crisper, but the second a little more water spotty - in a pinch either will work - it's still beautiful.  One of the artsy background techniques that will be a bit different every time you do it.  Let me know your thoughts!  ~Maureen

March Hostess Gift

So each month I share the Hostess gift for that month after my last hostess event of the month.  This Month here is what I made for my wonderful Hostesses.  Since July of last year through June of this year I am making card kids.  Gifts will change to something new for the new SU year in July.  Here's the packing.

New Demonstrator Welcome

We had a great response to SU's last demonstrator and added 13 new demonstrators to the Crazy Stamping lady downline.  So last Saturday I hosted a welcome meeting for any of them that could come.  We ended up with 7 of us there and had a great time sharing ideas and asking questions.  Then we did a project that could easily be given as a hostess gift - this set of three quick and easy notecards.

We used a couple of great sets- Blooming Kindness for the Verses and Creative Elements or the flourish behind the butterflies, and our two butterfly punches - along with Concord and Island Indigo papers to create the cards, then packaged them in a cute little package using our Chevron gift bags.

 Here's the set completed and ready to give as a gift.

This set would be great made with any of our color groups - so you could vary it to the tastes of your hostess.  Just wanna give a shout out to my new gals - welcome to SU and the CSL's!  ~Maureen

Club Hostess Gift

So this is the gift I gave to my club hostess this month.  It's the great SU chevron bags closed with a decorated butterfly clothespin.

Then inside I made this set of four beautiful butterfly cards - are those colors lovely!!  I used the "Creative Elements" stamp set and the two butterfly punches.  I think I'll need to make more of these.

Paper Toile Butterfly

So for our card made with the Paper Toile method -we used this beautiful butterfly.  Stamped it several times, and cut out parts of the wings to layer up.

Here you can see a bit closer the different layers - especially when you look at the body of the butterfly.

And here it is from the side showing the base and the three smaller layers we popped up - great look for an elegant card.
