Stampin' Friends August Blog Hop - Fall Theme!

Well - WOW - school started two weeks ago here in Arizona - so I guess it is officially FALL! Welcome to the Stampin' Friends Blog Hop for August - check out my blog post below, and then be sure to hop through all the rest (links at the bottom) to see all the amazing FALL projects and ideas.

I just had to use some of the products from the Limited time set from SU! for my Fall projects for this hop. Below is the leaf stamp from the set, stamped onto the vanilla layer with Memento ink and colored with our SU! Blends. The leaves to me are lovely as they have such a flow like they are gently falling. I am so in love with the blends, and could just color all night long.

After cutting out the cute little framelit (NOTE that it has stitching on the outside and inside when it cuts, so it's perfect for framing images) I stamped the leaves at the top and bottom corners and colored using Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Old Olive and Cajun Craze blends. Then this layer was popped up on a Old Olive base with dimensionals. I then stamped the leaves and sentiment on a scrap; and colored and cut out with a circle punch. Then, also popped that layer up in the middle of the cut-out section. I hope you can see the dimension to this in the picture below.

I stamped the leaves without coloring at all, on the envelope and the inside of the card, and I think they are lovely. Can you tell I LOVE those leaves.

But what I think is especially great about these framelits - is that they also cut out with stitching on the inside of the layer. Isn't it just beautiful?

I used that adorable little cut out to make this quick treat holder. Orange pixie sticks in a cello bag - with the layer folded in half and attached to the top.

June Clubs Sassy Sisters and Cardy Girls clubs - Heat Embossing

So our June technique for these two clubs was embossing. It was renewal month for my other club - so we did a different project that I'll post soon. Here is our technique card for our binders -

It's an oldie - but a goodie - and I still love every time that embossing powder melts and gives your image an amazing shine. It's like magic. This year's annual catalog for Stampin' Up! has embossing powder in the five new fun In-Colors - Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch.

They are so bright and vibrant and we used the Blueberry Bushel color on these cards below.

This card also features the Painted Glass stamp set and our beautiful Garden Impressions DSP. How beautiful are these cards. The layers of blue, white, blue and black - really make the focal point pop. We colored the butterflies with markers - cut them out on the big shot with the Stained Glass thinlits, and folded their wings up and attached with a couple glue dots.

Alaskan Cruise Day 4

Day 4 began with pure beauty as we headed into Skagway -

Below are two different views of the area right from dock where our ship was -

Paul and I had made this trip once before for our 30th anniversary - and that time we took the train you can see on the left side of the picture. This time we opted out - but everyone should do it once in a lifetime - it was amazing. The ship you see on the right was not ours. It was the Radiance of the Sea and even larger than ours which is hard to imagine.

This time we opted to check out the town itself, and learn some of the amazing history. At this little museum we were able to see a wonderful documentary on the Gold Rush that was really eye-opening as to what people went through.

The town itself was amazingly historic. The buildings were fascinating - and the back drop of those mountains awe inspiring.

We walked the town, did a little shopping, stopped for some great coffee of course, and just simply enjoyed the day. The weather was beautiful for the entire trip - 70's and 80's every day.

This was the view walking back up to our ship dock.

Back on the ship before dinner we explored a bit - and I was able to take in a poolside screening of "A Wrinkle In Time" while Paul took an afternoon nap. I've got to tell you - the book is my all time favorite and I have read it so many times. I thought I would not like the movie as it is a quite a bit different than the book - but I loved it. Not sure what moved me, but I was crying like a baby before was over. The people around me must have thought I was crazy - because I did not see anyone else cry. Oh Well - I still loved it!

In the evening Paul and I were able to take in another show after dinner -

And before returning to our cabin to find another amazing Pillow Gift. A beautiful woven blue throw and some great little Stamping embellishments.

July Christmas Card 1

So this Stylish Christmas set on page 101 of the Annual catalog caught my eye immediately; and I just had to use it with my Christmas card class in July just after the catalog started. There is just something about the flow and movement of those holly leaves that is beautiful to me. I tried to capture that movement in this card.

We used rich colors - and layered two of the poinsettia flowers over each other. The top flower is cut on three of the curved petals and curled up to give it real dimension. I colored our gems with a Daffodil Delight dark blend alcohol marker an added several of them to the center of the flower.

Then we finished it by stamping both the envelope and the inside of the card. I think it is just such an amazing card and set. Can't wait to do more with it at a future class.
