SF 2021 October - Give Thanks Blog Hop

Be sure to hop through all the blogs on the list near the bottom for tons of wonderful inspiration as we celebrate "Giving Thanks!!"
 ~*~*~*~*~

If you've come from Jean's post - her projects are awesome! So, if not, be sure you swing back to see what she did.

This month is all about giving thanks, but I came at it from a different angle.  This time of year is my absolute favorite - so I am showcasing it - because it is really one of the things I am most thankful for.  So my card reflects my feelings - "it's the best time of the year."

This card uses the Inspiring Canopy dies from the annual catalog; as well as the amazing Beauty of the Earth DSP and this awesome sentiment is from a Christmas set in the Fall catalog - Peaceful Deer - but it says it all.

Once the days get shorter, the nights cooler and the trees turn color - I am nothing but grateful!

This card is also a non-traditional size - cut to fit in a standard mailing envelope that is 3 5/8" x 6 1/2". I started with a base of Mossy Meadow that was 6 1/4" x 7" and scored at 3 1/2" to make a horizontal card.  The layer is Crushed Curry and Trees are Soft Suede.  Then I added numerous pieces of the DSP cut using the dies and added with glue dots and mini dimensionals.  Hopefully you can see some of that dimension in this this top view of the card.

Isn't it lovely!?!

My 3D project was a matching shadow box for my wall -

I love how it turned out and it hangs proudly on the wall in my entry way - another reflection of how thankful I am for Fall and the wonder it brings.  Would love to know what are some of the little things you are thankful for and that bring you joy!

Paper Crafting Blog Hop October 2021 - Anything Fall!

Welcome to our Paper Crafting Blog Hop for October 2021 featuring talented Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. Fellow demonstrators from all over the globe including the USA, United Kingdom and Australia are participating. We have a wide array of fun projects and design styles to share with you this month - all spotlighting projects that represent - anything Fall!

~*~*~*~*~
Fall is definitely my favorite season - apple cider, trees turning colors, warm days and cool nights. So I made a card to reflect that feeling.

The sentiment is from a Christmas set, but it worked perfectly for fall for me. To make this card I used the Bargello technique taking strips of the amazing Beauty of the Earth DSP and adhering it to self-adhesive paper, then cutting that in strips to get all these beautiful colors.

Next adhere these strips to another piece of self-adhesive to get a beautiful layer of mosaic like design.

I then used the stitched leaves dies to cut out leaf images -
and using the negative image - popped it up with dimensionals on a card base of Merry Merlot to get this beautiful card -
I gave the sentiment a little curve with a bone folder and adhered it with glue dots, and dimensionals to raise the center. Added a little twine bow. Then finally - I finished the inside with one of the cut out leaves.

Hope you like the card as much as I liked making it - my ode to FALL in the form of a beautiful card. Would love it if you'd leave me a comment on what you think.

 ·       Basic White CS: 5 ½” x 8 1/2”, 3 1/4” x 4 1/4”; 1/2” x 3 3/4” for sentiment

·       Basic Black CS: 3 1/4” x 4 1/4”; 1 7/8” x 5 1/4”; 4” x 5 1/4”

·       Sahara Sand CS: 2 1/2” x 3 5/8”

·       Cute Halloween DSP: 1 5/8” x 5” Striped; 3 3/4” x 5” Boo; 1/2” x 3” scraps of Orange stripe; Gray stripe and Boo (banners); Pumpkins to punch from DSP

·       Linen Twine: 2 – 6 1/2” pieces tied together for a double bow

·       Stapler

Instructions: Please refer to picture for placement.

1.    This is a Z-Fold card - Score large piece of Basic White at 2 1/8” and at 4 1/4”.  Fold in half at the 4 1/4” score line – then fold back the left on the 2 1/8” score line to form your Z.

2.    Cut the largest Scallop Rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies out of the

3 1/4” x 4 1/4” pieces of Basic White (for inside card) and Basic Black.

3.    Punch three pumpkins out of the DSP using the Halloween Punch; and flag the right end of all three strips of DSP and the strip of Basic White on the right end.  Then stamp the sentiment from Cutest Halloween on the Basic White strip using the Tuxedo Black Memento pad.

4.    Color several Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack – using the Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend.

5.    To assemble adhere the striped white and black DSP to the strip of Basic Black CS, then adhere this to the first panel (that is folded back to the left) on the card base.  Next, adhere the Boo piece of DSP to the rectangle of Basic Black CS, then adhere this to the inside of the card base.  Then stamp an inside sentiment if you wish on the scalloped piece of white and adhere centered this on the inside of your card on the Boo layer.

6.    Adhere the Sarah Sand CS rectangle to the center of the scalloped black piece of cardstock.  Then putting adhesive on the left back of this only – adhere it to the first panel so that it lines up perfectly with the Basic White scalloped layer of CS on card inside.  This will keep the are you write in from being seen when card is closed.

7.    Line up and layer your DSP strips and the sentiment strip and staple together close to the left side.  Stick your double bow of Linen Thread with a Mini Glue Dot™ right on the staple, then adhere this cluster to the card front making sure banners do not go over edge of card.

8.    Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, add the top two pumpkins directly to the card as shown.  Then use a dimensional to adhere the bottom pumpkin.

9.    Add your colored Rhinestone Basic Gems as desired to the Sahara Sand Layer.

September Paper Pumpkin - Alternative Project #4

So my Paper Pumpkin class for the September kit is over and I can continue to share what we did as our alternatives - here is the FINAL alternative project from class - an adorable little candy basket.

 Tips

To duplicate you would use one of green/red treat boxes (or any color you like).  Using your snips - cut off the hooked tabs on the box curving, so all sections are alike.  Put box together with the adhesive strips; and using a maker - roll each petal down to toward the outside to form a little basket.  Punch a hole on two of the petals that are across from each other; and feed the wired raffia through each - bending it into a curve on the outside, so it will not pull back through.

Next we colored three leaves with blends and added the veins with Memento black.  Cluster them together with glue dots, and add to the handle with another glue dot or two.  Adhere a bow to the cluster, and a gem to the leaf; and you have a great little treat box.  I filled mine with caramels.  These would be adorable to set out for Fall - or use at each place setting at Thanksgiving!

Here they are all four of my alternatives for the September 2021 kit, featured one at a time over the last several days on my blog. Check them all out - and have fun!!

Let me know if you have any questions and stop back soon.  ~Maureen

September Paper Pumpkin - Alternative Project #3

Paper Pumpkin class for the September kit is over and I can continue to share what we did as our alternatives - here is the third project -

Tips
To duplicate you would use a Pumpkin Pie Card base; layer of Crumb Cake embossed with the Macrame embossing folder.  Sentiment from the kit stamped in Evening Evergreen.  The leaf from the kits stamped with the leaf veins in Evening Evergreen.  Pumpkin is three scalloped ovals punched with the Double Oval punch; a 3/4" piece of the wired raffia to make stem.  Thin strip of Soft succulent wrapped around a skewer to get the little curl.  The vine is the Sprig Punch twice; and the blossoms are the flower from the Strawberry builder punch.  All attached together with glue dots.  Below are the three punches I used.
Base is Pumpkin Pie 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" - this is a vertical card.  Basic White 1/2" x 2"; Pale Papaya 3/4" x 2 1/4"; Crumb Cake 4" x 5 1/4".   Adhere Crumb Cake layer to base; and pop up sentiment as shown on dimensionals.  Punch scalloped ovals out of one of the Pale Papaya treat boxes; and adhere to make the pumpkin.  Adhere the stem with a glue dot to the back of pumpkin and leaf; vines an blossoms with glue dots as shown.  Pop this entire cluster up on the card with dimensionals and add a couple champagne gems to the centers of the blossoms.  That was it - finish inside and envelope as you like.
Let me know if you have any questions and stop back soon to see the final alternative project for this kit.
