Halloween 2010

So we had a very hectic and crazy Halloween at Heidi's - first we all went down to the church for their Harvest festival. After the kids had their fill they came back to Heidi's and we had food going and tried to get kids dressed up, and all the while answering a ringing doorbell to trick or treaters. We finally got everyone in their costumes and they headed out -
here's Kamili as Belle - Makai as Cinderella - Zavian as the Alien from Toy Story (although he did not like the head gear :) - with his witchy Mama - Heidi - Paisley as our corpse bride - Prince as Luigi -Zamarah as a little witch -
Jenee as a kitty cat -

And finally yours truly as the spider queen! I brought a tan shirt, and an Indiana Jones hat and whip for Paul - and I think he put it on, but before I could take a picture it was off and he was back in his Harley Davidson t-shirt - oh well - there's always next year. It was a great night of fun and we were all very tired the next morning!

Trick -or- Treat

Just wanted to share what I did with some of my Halloween decor elements. - I've seen several examples of this, and wanted to try it - so I purchased a few little pumpkins - added the decor elements - Voila!I also added this creepy spider to my microwave (yikes that flash shows all the creepy spots on my microwave) - I have to admit this has freaked me out a few times when I go to reheat my coffee :) Also wanted to share this adorable Halloween card that I received from a friend, Sandy B! I love it!! Sandy - thanks for thinking of me.

Happy Halloween

Heidi and Jenee took the kiddos (and my honorary grand-daughter, Naomi) to the pumpkin patch this month. Here's the crew of kids posing for a picture -And here are Zamarah and Zavian posing on the hay bales for their first pumpkin patch trip. So cute!! Tonight we're all going to Heidi's for a potluck Halloween dinner, a trip to the church carnival and trick or treating. Watch for more pics next week!
This month was CRAZY with Stamp Till you Cramp, Disneyland, a Conference in Reno, Pumpkin Patch trips and Halloween - so we didn't get to do our regular Halloween class. But I thought I'd share a project we made previously - we took the cue from Martha Stewart with the Witch's broom treat bag filled with popcorn, added a pretzel for her stick and an adorable little tag - so cute!!

Hope you all have a Happy and Safe Halloween!!

Heidi's SSS gift -

Heidi's Secret Sis dropped off this adorable Halloween candy bouquet for her. How cute is that. Mr Pumpkin head is filled with an assortment of wonderful candies - this would make the cutest centerpiece. But I doubt if Heidi uses it that way that the kiddos will leave the candy alone long enough to make it to Halloween. Sorry about the blurry picture - the little spoky tag on a skewer is an adorable touch!

A Day at Disneyland

So Jenee, Heidi and I decided to be brave and take all 6 kiddos to Disneyland. Here we were at the beginning of the day having some breakfast together before heading out. The day was cool and a little drizzly, but perfect for Disneyland - I hate it when it's too hot. Plus it kept the lines down a bit. Paisley, Prince, Kamili and Makai posing on the CALIFORNIA Disney "L".
We took all the kids on the Bugs Life ride - here's Heidi, Jenee, Zavian, Zamarah and Prince in the next cart from me.Gramma spent most of the day helping out with the bittiest of the crew - here Zamarah catches a few winks while she can -
While Zavian just kicked backed and relaxed. Very little sleeping was done by either :)

It was a fun and exhausting day for all :)

Another spooky SSS Gift

So the Secret Stampin' Sister of Julie has struck this time. Look at this adorable coffin (is that possible?) The little bats are embossed right onto the DSP. Inside it was filled with bags of bones - how appropriate :)
And here's the cute package it was dropped off in!

Storm Clouds Over Simi

Amazing clouds. One night last week when I was getting ready to leave work I got a call from my daughter in Simi Valley saying she was getting huge hail - when I looked outside I could see the sky was black - not a usual sight for Southern Cal. Here are the clouds that were above me as I got into my car - and within minutes the sky let loose with a downpour - was almost impossible to see to drive. Once I got home (through some very flooded streets) the rain stopped and I snapped this picture of the storm clouds from my front yard. It was eerie - four hours later the lightning and thunder continued - I loved it though. I really miss thunderstorms from my days of living in Wisconsin. So I am not complaining.

New Prepped Card Option for Nov. 7 Card Making

October Technique

So this month we did - Shaving Cream - I LOVE this technique (even though it is a little messy) - but I love that every time you do it - it gives you a different swirly pattern. Here is our technique card for our binder. I do it in colors different than the card we'll be making to show the versatility of whatever technique we are doing. And here is the card we made - how cool is that!
Here's a close-up of some of the swirls - aren't they amazing. Thanks Karen for a great club meeting - next month we're at Kathy's - we'll see if she has a favorit technique she wants to do :)
