Peek-a-boo Gate Fold Card

So we made this card in my Advanced Cards Class August 2017.  It fit the bill as there was a lot of layering, cutting and some coloring.  I particularly love the colors -  Berry Burst and Smoky Slate.  It is a regular gate fold card just turned horizontal rather than vertical - but the peek-a-boo part comes from cutting the gates a little smaller to let a verse show through the opening.

The bike parts were cut out, colored and assembled on the rectangular piece of white so that it over laps the two sides of the gate fold.  Then we stamped a few clouds by stamping off Soft sky just to get a hint of cloud.

We then added the beautiful bow with SU's Berry Burst crinkled seam binding - the perfect finish for this card.  The ladies had a few sentiments to choose from, from the Rose Wonder set, to complete their work of art.

Eastern Beauty Happiness

The Eastern Palace Suite in Stampin' Up!s annual catalog is so elegant and easy to work with.  At my last Open House we used it to make these pretty cards as a Make and Take! 

Here is a close up - just love how we stamped the envelope to match - who wouldn't want to get that in the mail?!

You can see the layers in the picture below and how the sentiment was popped up on SU dimensionals.  Little touch that adds a lot to the card.  I'll be posting another sample with this set soon - as I've been playing :)

With Sympathy

Sympathy cards are always hard for me to make - especially when I need them.  So I try and make them ahead of time so I'm not in the moment.  I shared last time about my brother's passing.  But in the past two months we also lost my hubby's cousin, my Sister-in-law's mother, a friend's hubby and a friend's daughter.  Such losses can be a bit overwhelming.  So I'm going to share the last group of sympathy cards I made. 

These were done at a class last month - and customers were able to choose a different verse, if they didn't need sympathy.

It was put together from a few different cards I saw on Pinterest -and I really liked the elegance of it.  Below you can see that pearls were added; and also the dimension of the card.

Although I hate to make sympathy cards - I love having them ready when I need them.  This batch is now gone - so time to make some more.

Hard cards to share!

So, recently my older brother, Richard, passed away.  Even though his health had not been great - it still happened quickly and unexpectedly.  So very sad to lose him :(  I am thankful though, that we had gotten back to Wisconsin several times over the  past few years, and were able to get together with him when we were there.  But today I just want to share some of the beautiful handmade sympathy cards we received.  Enjoy!

Christmas Cards Sleigh Ride

So each month I do a Christmas card class - so that by the time Christmas actually rolls around - we all have a stash.  The card I'm featuring today was from a few months ago already. Time just gets away from me.  This class always gets pretty full - which makes me happy - because I love making Christmas cards year round!

It uses the "Santa's Sleigh" set from the SU annual catalog page 119.  This set is so versatile.  For this card it is a more natural look - but I've seen beautiful cards made with a metallic sleigh and in black, white and gold - whole different look - but so pretty.

Here's a closer look at the sleigh - isn't that scroll detail in both the sleigh and the runners just beautiful.  Makes me want to hop in and take a ride in it, then come home and snuggle by a fireplace. And you can see we cut the Whisper White in two curvy layers and sandwiched the tree between - then added some Wink of Stella to the edge to make it look sparkly like snow.

Succulent Class

So - just realized I never posted the pictures of the cute little succulent arrangement we made at my "Anything But a Card" (ABC) class a few months ago.  I loved it so much and have one currently sitting on my desk - but it will be given to a friend from church tomorrow.  Hope she likes it too!

It uses the retired succulent dies from Stampin' Up!  and it is so easy to recreate the look of actual little succulent plants.  We used three different colors of cardstock and three different inks to sponge the edges.

And then added the adorable little "Happy Day" sign.  Here's a close up of the petals.

The pot had a piece of floral foam glued inside and moss glued on top of that - and then as we completed each little plant we hot glued it to the moss, making sure to put enough to hold it in place.

Everyone of them turned out just a little different - but each was adorable.  ~Maureen
