5 30 2020 Coffee and a card... use up those scraps!

So I've been doing Facebook Live Coffee and a Card - to keep everyone engaged.  Each time I share a card, or technique, or in the case of my new upcoming one information on the new catalog and my catalog shares.  If you are on Facebook and interested - watch for this picture - I try to send out a day or two before I go live and again about an hour before as a reminder.
On the 30th of May I had one about using up some of your Designer Series Paper scraps - and below is the cards I made -

From the last card kit I offered I had a bunch of scraps left over from the kits - so I wanted to do something with them  - and this is what I came up with.  The base was in Whisper White a normal A2 base (dimensions in the video); then the Lovely Lipstick layer 5 1/4" x 4".  So the DSP strips for the vertical card were three 5" x 1 1/4" pieces.  If you line them up right next to each other - the fit perfectly with a nice border.
For the horizontal card I used four 3 3/4" x 1 1/4" strips and did the same thing.  You could also use five 3 3/4" x 1" strips or even ten 3 3/4" x 1/2" strips.  Then finish as you like.  I'm sharing the video here in case you'd like to make some cards of your own to use up strips.  Enjoy -

SF 2020-May Masculine or My Guy Blog Hop

Be sure to hop through all the blogs on the list near the bottom for tons of wonderful inspiration!
It is a Masculine kind of month - thank you for joining us as we celebrate our Guys!  I decided to work with the retiring Country Road stamp set from Stampin' Up!s last chance list.  I have loved this set - and used it many times for collage stamping - but today did a different take on it.

~*~*~*~*~

I ended up making this masculine card and a matching treat box out of one of our half size stamp cases.  For my card - I used the beautiful Copper Metallic paper - as I love the way it looks with rich blues and browns.
Notice those marks on the Weather Vane image - they were not supposed to be there, but after my card was all finished it tipped over onto the wheel stamp below, that was laying there inked - so instead of starting over - I just tapped it on there a few more times to get kind of a vintagy look to the image - and I liked it!  No one will ever know - right?
And to save waste on that beautiful copper paper - I cut the large scallop square out of the large layer before adding to the front of my card -
Next I took one of our 1/2 size empty stamp boxes and created a matching liner with Whisper White Card stock -
Then decorated it to coordinate with the card - for a great gift/treat holder.  Haven't filled mine yet - but I'm thinking wrapped Hershey's nuggets and a gift card will go inside.  Of course I had to add a few of those little lines to my weather vane here for consistency.
And remember my tip of saving on the copper paper - well I actually die cut this little scallop layer above out of the center of the larger scalloped square.  It's a great way to extend the use of your fancier more expensive papers.  I actually did a little stamping on the back of the cardstock so it shows on the inside the case too -

Paper Crafting Blog Hop - Thinking of you Guys! - May 2020

Welcome to our Paper Crafting Blog Hop featuring talented Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. Fellow demonstrators from all over the globe including the USA, United Kingdom and Australia are participating. We have a wide array of fun projects and design styles to share with you!

~*~*~*~*~
Our theme this month is Thinking of you Guys! So I chose to use the Waterfront stamp set in my creation. This set is just so fun to work with as you create a scene of your choice - and it coordinates perfectly with the Snow Front and My Meadow stamp sets to give you more options while you are creating. I love that Big Bold "Happy Birthday" from the Perennial birthday set, for guys cards.
Here is a close up of the stamped scene I made -
Each element is just stamped to create a wonderful outdoorsy feel - perfect for any guy (or even most gals).  The tree images were stamped three times without re-inking to get the dense forest look.  I used the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder for the awesome pebbly background look.  No card is complete without finishing the inside and envelope to coordinate - love how this came together.
I hope you enjoyed my post and would love it if you'd leave me a comment. Now click on through to the rest of those hopping this month to see all of their wonderful creations! ~Maureen
